July 24th Weekly Quick Pick Mix

At this moment in history, I'm so here for this cover of Peter Gabriel's In Your Eyes from rockers (and past podcast guest!) Sons of Bill.

There is so much amazing music hitting the airwaves (Internet-waves? Web-portals? Tubes?) right now. I was just tuning myself into the sundry energy of that 2nd Grade album when David Ramirez dropped My Love Is A Hurricane's heady vibe into my ears and Sons of Bill reemerged with that fresh twist on an 80's classic.

My listening has been all over the place, from the wonderful weird of Hinds to a deep dive back into my old stomping grounds of the 90's with Live, Temple of the Dog, and Alice in Chains. My weekly Pilates workout featured Andrew WK (this ain't your papa's Pilates) and I found my way back to that simply wonderful YBN Cordae album from last year. With all that random sound, it's no wonder I stumbled back into the music of Emperor X. These are quite random times, after all.

So, listen. I know it's weird. I know it's been hard. And I know the messaging from above has been anything but clear. The answers aren't simple, but the figuring out the right thing ain't that hard either. Take care of your neighbor. Don't spread it 'til you've verified it. Fight back against racism, patriarchy, and any person or any system pushing people down.

And wear your goddamn mask.

There is a war going on for our minds. We are the insurgents.

WQPM playlists are a collection of ten songs I've been listening to this week, crossing genre, era, and taste. No themes here, just the tunes I've been sticking in my ears lately. The newest Weekly Quick Pick Mix is available on Spotify and Apple Music.
