September 25th Weekly Quick Pick Mix

i hope these hard times make me better not just older

How are we doing out there, friends?

I know. I know. It's been a tough one.

The jokes about 2020 being "the worst" have long ceased to be amusing.

I'm not gonna sugarcoat it; things are rough. While I held my reason and optimism as a shield against worries about the state of our democracy and the goodwill of our fellow citizens, I grow genuinely concerned. Mounting pandemic deaths, struggling businesses, a government driven by the those who choose their politics over the well-being of the nation, and a citizenry seemingly held in thrall by the darker sides of human nature. To quote Dax on a recent episode of Armchair Expert, "things are getting dangerous".

I wish I had something grand and inspirational to send you away with, but I'm pretty tapped out myself these days. All I can say is no matter how hard the times, we cannot give in and lower ourselves to the level of those dragging us down. We cannot submit to the darkness.

We should be all out there working even harder than ever to seek justice, to assist our fellow humans, and to shift the direction of our communities toward the light. Even if we go down, we'll go down fighting on the right side.

Be willing to lose for the right reason.

We make our own hope. Go out there and make some.

WQPM playlists are a collection of ten songs I've been listening to this week, crossing genre, era, and taste. No themes here, just the tunes I've been sticking in my ears lately. The newest Weekly Quick Pick Mix is available on Spotify and Apple Music.
