come on all you losers, you bastards and cheats, vagrants and barflies down on the streets, follow this path to salvation, vindication awaits
tell me why the ones who have so much make the ones who don't go mad, with the same skin stretched over their white bones and the same jug in their hand
Normally, when I post each weekly mix tape, I have a lot to say about topics that aren't necessarily music-related. (This is where you roll your eyes and say "we know, Justin.") But I'm going to keep relatively quiet this week.
Additionally, these mixes are normally stocked with new tunes and new (or new to me) artists, but that's also not the case this week. My listening has taken me back to songs, albums, and artists long on my favorites list, so you're going to see a lot of older cuts here.
Maybe it's the relief of various bits of good news in the world. Maybe it's the fact that my wife, the dog, two cats, and a rabbit (not to mention most of our belongings) are now crammed into one-third of our house as we embark on the adventure of a major remodel. Maybe it's the weird, not entirely based in fact, but still somehow there sense of optimism growing in me over the past few weeks. Whatever it is, I'm feeling good, I'm feeling nostalgia, and I'm feeling adventurous.
In both looking inward and outward, it's clear there's plenty of work to do, but there's also plenty of great material to use in that process. And this is likely the last time I'll talk to you all (outside of social media) before Thanksgiving, so we can officially call this the post of thanks and gratitude.
Love the ones you've got (safely, at a distance, and probably virtually). Love the you you've got. Hell, people, let's love as much as we can. The world sure could use it.
Take care. Stay safe.
WQPM playlists are a collection of ten songs I've been listening to this week, crossing genre, era, and taste. No themes here, just the tunes I've been sticking in my ears lately. The newest Weekly Quick Pick Mix is available on Spotify and Apple Music.
