UPDATE: Lazy Government: Michigan's Worker Rights

A brief update related to yesterday's post regarding Worker Rights in Michigan:

  • A campaign has been in the works to create a ballot proposal to increase the minimum wage:

  • If approved, this item would be on the 2024 ballot, so not this year's election.

  • Approval requires review of the 610,000 signatures by the Bureau of Elections

  • If passed, it would take effect in 2027 and require Michigan employers to pay both tipped and non-tipped employees at least $15 an hour.

And the stay has been approved.
